Audio Narration by Dr. Barker:

By their very nature, many of the services a surgeon provides to his patients must be conducted in an Operating Room. There, a full complement of specialized instruments and specially trained nurses and techs are available to help surgeons do their best work. There too, under the watchful eye of anesthesiologists or CRNA’s, patients can be anesthetized and monitored to safely control pain, breathing, and heart function during major surgery.

However, there are numerous “minor” surgical procedures that can be performed under local anesthesia in the office setting, much more quickly and inexpensively. These procedures include skin and other soft tissue biopsies, needle biopsies, wound cleaning, debridement and suturing. We regularly schedule minor surgery to be performed under local anesthesia in our office in Bluefield, Virginia.

Please feel free to schedule a telesurgical consultation to see an office surgical procedure might be right for you.
